She was the recipient of the 2021 American Educational Research Association Award for Distinguished Contributions to Gender Equity Research and was an inaugural Fellow for the National Center for Free Speech and Civic Engagement. She is currently an Associate Professor of Educational Foundations, Policy and Practice at the University of Colorado, Boulder and the author of two books and an editor of two volumes on gender and sexual diversity issues in education and popular culture. Meyer has been working in and with K-12 schools as a professional educator since 1993.
